Clonezilla is an open-source and free disk cloning, image conversion, data recovery, backup, virtualization, and deployment (VDS) software. This software is specifically developed for operating systems that include Windows as the main platform such as XP, Vista, and Windows 7. The application is designed to be compatible with almost all versions of Windows as well as other systems, such as Linux, OS X, Unix, and MAC operating systems. The software also has been released as freeware on the Internet.
A typical Windows based Clonezilla installation will usually require you to create an account. Once you have done so you will be able to upload your data and start copying and backing up files from a DVD or other storage media. Once you have created your account you can then begin to transfer your files, videos, images, and other files onto your newly created disk. You will need to have a reliable Internet connection to access the application when using it. Once you have your disk ready for use, you will need to connect it to your PC via a USB cable.
When you first run the application, it will automatically prompt you to install it. Once you have installed it you will need to restart your PC to make sure that all software components are in place. Once your PC is running again, you will be able to browse for your files and back them up. Once you are done backing up your files you can then restore your files from a new copy of your backup.
